Five practices and disciplines of spiritual hygiene Ā strengthen our connection with God. Read and enjoy the Bible. Stop being productive and observe the Sabbath principle of rest. Fast for simplicity, for instance, less television or less recreational shopping. Be present with loved ones by giving them your full attention. Pray. Be willing to reorder your life to make these five practices and disciplines a priority. These practices and disciplines strengthen our connection to God so we can engage the culture without being corrupted by it.
